"if you read something in this book that sounds like advocacy of a particular political point of view, please reject the notion. My interest in "issues" is merely to point out how badly we're doing, not :o suggest a way we might do better. Don't confuse me with those who :ling to hope. I enjoy describing how things are, I have no interest in low they "ought to be." And I certainly have no interest in fixing them. I sincerely believe that if you think there's a solution, you're )art of the problem. My motto: Fuck Hope!"
This paragraph beautifully shows what the book is about. He was not a cynical person but a realist. He really loved playing with language. Questioning the idioms and their meanings. Why people say that? Why people think like that? These are the semantical inquiries for him to contemplate upon.
However, since the book was written in 1998, i didn't get some parts which were referring to 90s culture. Other than this, it was refreshingly good to read this mind blowing jokes.
