ALWAYS READ BEFORE YOU SIGN ANYTHING Omg, what was that? This is not BDSM at all. It was abuse. I don't care if she didn't read before she sign. Yeah it was a stupid thing to do but still I hated it. Why did she let a strange man bath her god dammit? Dummest heroine ever. Did he really have to punish her in front of a crowd? She was

Kendimi kitabı okumuş saymıyorum, aksine üzerinde çalıştım ve bazı bölümlerini birden fazla kez yeniden okudum. Bunu 5 yıldan fazla bir süre önce duymuştum ve içindeki teorilerin geçerliliğini yitirmiş olmasını bekliyordum, ancak bunlar hâlâ günümüzün piyasa durumuyla tutarlı. Birden fazla açıdan görmenizi ve kitapta bahsedilen gerçek örneklerden

Between life and death there is a library, and within that library, the shelves go on forever. Every book provides a chance to try another life you could have lived. To see how things would be if you had made other choices… Would you have done anything different, if you had the chance to undo your regrets? If you aim to be something you are not, you will always fail. Aim to be you. Aim to look and act and think like you. Aim to be the truest version of you. Embrace that you-ness. Endorse it. Love it. Work hard at it. And don't give a second thought when people mock it or ridicule it. Most gossip is envy in disguise.

"I don't really understand 'Les Fleur Du Mal'.. I was just... intoxicated by the act of reading it!" This hits home really hard. Even though the way of telling the story through middle schoolers is not something I like a lot, the themes and message is very relateable. Although, perhaps middle-schoolers is not a bad choice. I can see how someone just hitting puberty fits the required characterization. By the way, "Saeki-san, I've always had this one-sided love for her... She was my muse, ans I worshipped her like an angel... I wanted her to remain as an angel forever... I didn't want to face the actual person..." this line, this confession to his self is my favorite thing so far. It made me remember an old film named "Time to Love" (Sevmek Zamanı) by Metin Erksan and also a song by Massive Attack called "Spoils" which both deal with the same thing: The act of loving someone or something you idealised and idolized in your mind rather than the actual thing or person. I feel like Aku no Hana could be the Japanese equivalent of these, but I have a feeling it will diverse in the next volumes and not focus on that aspect, which would be a shame because it lays down the perfect frame for a story like that if it just continues on this path. But my guess is it'll focus more on the flowers of evil and inner darkness and emotions rather than that. Nevertheless, I like this manga.

Let's see. An unknown woman who was never loved by her parents, had a horrible childhood, had a toxic relationship. Even if she is extremely privileged, beautiful and rich, none of those makes her alive or happy. After her parents death, she becomes severely depressed and decides to numb herself with medications for a year because she believes if she sleeps enough, she will wake up as a whole new person whose past doesn't matter anymore. I don't think most people who read the book like or fully understand the character. Liking her is not the point. The point is understanding her misery. Yes, she messes up, she makes mistakes, she acts unreasonable, she doesn't give a fuck about the world around her. She struggles a lot, but she is also in search of freedom and happiness and her true self. It was a real book about depression and despair with her complicated feelings and thoughts, not some fairytale nonsense. Good book.

This is a unique one for Asimov, and not connected to his usual fictional universe. Ironically, this is his first book I tried to read, in Malayalam translation, no less! But either the translation was bad, or the story was untranslatable, or I was too young for it... I dropped it after a few pages. I am glad I did, because I could read the original afresh. This story is about a group called Eternals who travel outside of linear time, stepping in when required within the time-stream to make things "better for humanity". Well, it all ends up rather like America making the world safe for democracy. I don't remember much other than the main character almost meeting himself as he enters the time-stream from different points. For some reason, this is considered a disaster. I don't know why. If I get chance, I would like to go forward and meet my older self, just to know how I made out.

The universe is a joke. Even before I was shown the meaning of life in a dream at 17 (then promptly forgot it because I thought I smelled pancakes), I knew this to be true--and yet, I have always felt a need to search for the truth, that nebulous, ill-treated creature. Adams has always been, to me, to be a welcome companion in that

Darwin wrote this book in 1872. It's interesting to compare what he wrote about then with what his successor theorists write about today. In contrast to today’s emphasis on universals (e.g., humans are this or not this or that), Darwin notes throughout this book that individuals have a wide variability in physical, emotional, and mental

Richard Dawkins shot to celebrity in 1976 with this rabble-rousing book, which change the game by inventing the word "meme" and basically nothing else, the rest of his ideas range from "ehhh not exactly" to "yeah but so what." Fun to read though! The gist is that the essential unit of life is the gene; our bodies are

A great book by a great man. I had heard the name Stephen Hawking but never read any of his theories. Simply for the very reason, the something coming from the smartest men of the previous 2 generations would be overly complicated and beyond my understanding. What I discovered in this book is Stephen Hawking. He was just a great man as we was a

I really don't think I need to tell y'all that I loved this because I've been raving about this series since the moment I started it back in January but for the sake of clarity - I love this. Since pretty much everyone I know has read these books, I figure reviewing them is pretty pointless. But with the new book coming out in a couple of weeks, I have to go through them beginning to end. To make the reviews more entertaining, I will be doing them in a variety of unexpected formats. For this review, I will be writing as Crookshanks fan
