The book, In the Land of White Lilies, was written by the famous journalist and columnist former priest, Russian Immigrant Grigoriy SpiridonovichPetrov. Born on January 26, 1866 in Yamburg, Petrov graduated first from the seminary and then from the theological academy in 1891, becoming a priest and later choosing to become a teacher. This book, which appeared in Russian in 2005, was published in Serbian in 1923 and in Bulgarian in 1925. The book was published in 1925 with the death of Russian immigrant Grigoriy Spiridonovich Petrov of cancer on 18 June 1925 in the Maison de Sante clinic near Paris. When Petrov started his journey with the question of how to build Russia, when he began to explain the time and importance of working in his lectures, these lessons were censored, and for this reason he gave up being a teacher in educational institutions and working in churches. As a result of this, Petrov's conflict with the church began and in 1908 his religious titles were stripped. After receiving his title, he was banned from going to Moscow Petersburg and living there for 7 years. During this period, his main job was journalism. He started writing articles for the newspaper Russkoye Slovo. Petrov hoped that Yugoslavia, which opened its door to him in this process, and Bulgaria, which was spiritually close to him, would develop. Speaking in Yugoslavia first in Russian and then in Serbian, Petrov spoke especially with Muslim women about the role of women in the world and society. In The Land of White Lilies, he describes how Finland, devoid of precious metals in the midst of swamps and rocks, managed to escape poverty and create an ideally economically, politically and culturally developed society. Adolf Ivar Arwidsson, the leader of the first national awakening in Finland, summed up as follows: "We are not Swedish, we do not want to be Russian, so we will be Finnish". The feature that brings the nation together is 'language'. First of all, nations should read and protect their mother tongue. If they protect him, they will feel like the public. In the year when the leaders of the national awakening were expelled from Turku University, Elias Lenrot, Yohan Ludvig Runeberg and Yohan Vilhelm Snellman, students of the same university, argued that Finland could not get anything by force, but that the power of education was the only salvation. With the initiatives of Snellman, the first Finnish school providing education in Finnish was opened. His ideas reached everyone from the educated segment, settled in mind and aroused the desire to take action. He inspired the "architects of life" that Petrov talked about from the very beginning. Snellman, who became senator after II. Alexander the throne, prepared one of the most important reforms, the language reform. The main principle mentioned in the Land of White Lilies is "to be an architect”. To be an architecture of life, to be the architecture of the people's wealth, the public mind and the people's conscience. The secret is "exertion". Exertion empowered by knowledge. Thanks to the architects of life, schools in Finland positively affect education with their cleanliness, hygiene, classrooms with large windows and high ceilings, excellent ventilation systems, comfortable furniture, clean and wide courtyards and sports areas, apart from their appealing appearance. School is the greatest wealth. The public tended to read, attached to books and newspapers. Every town has its own newspaper and every family in the village subscribes to the newspaper. It is a work of the people that their culture is at such a high level. “Being an intellectual does not mean wearing proper clothing or wearing a colorful scarf around his neck and a fashionable hat. Being an intellectual is the brain of the people ”. Being an intellectual is not a privilege, but a responsibility and a duty. Intellectuals are the candles of the people. When the candle is lit, it is hung on a high place so that it illuminates everywhere. Petrov says: “Teach the husband how to treat his wife, how the woman should treat her husband, how to educate children. You taught fineness, order, discipline ”. In addition to being an intellectual, according to Petrov, who clashes with the Church because of his ideas, the priests are not church officials. Their job is not just ritual and divine, but teaching the people a clean, good, just life. It is to awaken the conscience of the people, the love within. According to Petrov, who says that without God in his soul, the people cannot be saved, it is the duty of the clergy to make the people love religion. Finns gradually became interested in the places that belonged to them as they became the owners of their homeland. For example, barracks. The officer is not only the soldier's brother, but also his teacher. For this reason, the barracks became public schools, public universities. It teaches to be polite, honest, respectful, dignified, decent and organized. Barracks, like schools, were constantly ventilated, cleaned and decorated with flowers. Young officers paid attention to their cleanliness over time, and learned how to wash their hands, brush their teeth, and avoid swearing by keeping their mouths clean. It is an undeniable fact that consumption, depending on the dose, may have positive or negative consequences in human life. Nowadays, we prefer to buy famous and popular brands with advertisements and people's imposition. Unconscious consumers prefer to buy any product that is currently in fashion, even if they do not need it. In the Land of the White Lilies, well-off adult people tried to take the British as their model and do whatever they were doing and buying. For example, football. All over Europe, football has become a kind of religion among young people who have not even completed primary school. Thousands of people in many countries created the culture of football. They became his captives. Snellman then gave the Finnish youth the following advice: “Play, but stop when the time comes. Young Finland doesn't need people who can only chase leather balls. He needs strong rulers of the economic, social, mental and moral life of the Finnish people ”. Snellman and his friends linked the future of Finland to youth. Just as he blamed the priests not for those who had problems with religion but for failing to show them the right way, he also blamed their parents who did not care for children in youth problems. "Whatever you plant, you reap it". Parents should not leave their children without education and love. This is a crime. In the book he says: “Whatever constitution, high rights you take out, find the most liberal laws, believe in the miraculous power of socialism or communism, but if 100,000 children enter life as weak, unimportant people, they will be rude, poor, freak in all assemblies of our lives. Officers would be sloppy. Ministers become political liars. Council members speculate on the public account. Schools become places that dry the minds and hearts of new generations. The press is like street brawlers ”. Snellman and his friends have established parent associations in many places for this reason. Thanks to these associations, parents evaluated their own mistakes and exchanged experiences. This is how the resurrection of the Finnish people began in terms of reason and morality, thanks to talks, methods and ideas on child development. Under the supervision of selected social leaders from among the best people in the country, thousands of jackets, coats, shoes and underwear were sewn in private workshops and pushed the public to conscious consumption in line with their needs. Today, unfortunately, the social class difference affects the purchasing power, but the quality products produced in the workshops are sold at their cost in order to increase the purchase and for the happiness of the people. Actually everything is interconnected. If you give the people new sheltered clothes, the people will be happy, if you build a sample village with stove, the people will be away from the disease in their warm houses, happy and healthy people means high labor force. One aspect of contemporary marketing is to identify and respond to consumers' needs, and the other is to motivate consumers to meet their needs. Important names such as Petrov and Snellman, whom I call life architects, have pioneered to raise the country to a high level of prosperity by correctly determining the demands and utilitarian, hedonic needs. The real value of In The Land of White Lilies is not that it tells the reader about Finland, but that every citizen wants to be his own life architect through this story. As Dear Ataturk said, the only artist who has no signature on his work is the teacher. Petrov teaches us the story of the country where a forest was created from a swamp. It teaches that if we believe enough, there will be no swamp that we cannot grow. It teaches that the individual is not and cannot be independent from society. It teaches love, faith. I learned a lot from this book. I also learned from my greatest teacher who wanted this book to be read: "That youth will not forget anything. They are the luminous flowers of the future. All my hope is in the youth.” Mustafa Kemal ATATÜRK
