1. what i read
• The book is about the story of men named Akaky Akakyevitch working in some department in Pitsburg. Poor , humble and genuine towards his work , not complaining of anything in his life.
• On the midst of coldy winter on the street with snow fall akaky was wearing his old worn jacket so he planned to visit Petrovitch the tailor who used to repair his jacket , as akaky was poor he someone managed to save buy to repair his jacket but the old jacket was worn out fully it was impossible for Petrovitch to repair so Petrovitch managed to say akaky thats its time to buy a new overcoat but akaky money condition lead his to deep thinking but somehow akaky got the new overcoat for himself.
• Akaky describe his new overcoat was like he got his life partner , his love and caring for new overcoat was beyond the words. but one day after some party akaky new overcoat was been robbed in quite weird way which leads akaky into darkness and sorrow of his life.
• Akaky managed to complaint about his missing overcoat to men of power of consequence, but the behaviour of that men leads to akaky for losing his hope and unfortunately its lead to the death of his character.
• The way gogol descibe the love towards the non living object its beyond the explanation. feeling of losing someone whether it is living object or not its quite full of sorrow , Well i will say you should read this book once in your life.

2. Why i read -
The book was describe and mentioned in movie - Namsake directed by mira nair. in this movie Irfan told the stories of gogol's so it makes me to wonder and so i read this book. Irfan Khan say we all came from gogol's overcoat same as dostoevsky.

Good choice.. Gogol is said to be a pioneerin realistic writing. His writing as is portrayed in The Overcout is touched on real characters and real themes that concern human society. It's a must - read. In this story Gogol encapsulates everything in the world related to the human desire. This such a great story recommended to everyone 👍😉
