An amazing book... The edition I read was from Türkiye İş Bankası's Modern Classics series. There are five stories in our book: -Happy Prince -Great Firecracker -The Selfish Giant -The Nightingale and the Rose -Loyal Friend I liked all of the stories so much, I can't choose. Whether it is a children's book or not, the messages given, the narrative language of the stories, allegory and many other elements are handled very well. But I don't think it's a children's book :) This was a work published during the author's apprenticeship period... Who knows what his works were like during his mastery period... Frankly, I didn't have high expectations for the book, but I was wrong. Personification is used abundantly. There is allegory and message in each story, but it does not do it in a way that will bore you. The translation is also done very well, you can easily feel the sarcastic style of the author. The author reveals selfishness, arrogance and insensitivity. He does not forget to mention love and affection, for example; "But love is out of fashion now, poets killed it. They wrote so much about love that no one believed it; I think it's very normal. True love suffers and remains silent..." The last part of the book also impressed me a lot: " 'I told him a story with a main idea.' 'That's always extremely dangerous,' said the Duck. I actually agree. " It may be wrong, but I think this "I agree with you too" statement. I think the person who made the sentence is the writer. The author told us stories with a main idea and he thinks that this is dangerous... And I think this thought is correct. What is right is dangerous. In summary; I loved this book. Read it, have it read, I definitely recommend it. So much beauty, messages, quotes in 50 pages... Many, many congratulations to Oscar Wilde. Read it and you'll see what I mean. :) "Wherever you love is your world."
