STİGMA - DAMGA
Erving Goffman (11.06.1992-19.11.1982) Born in Canada, E. Goffman is considered to be one of the most successful names of 20th Century America. The reason for that can be his desire to be distanced from his colleagues and their works, his colleagues’ (A. Giddens, P. Bourdieu) interest in his work and another reason can be the fact that he included daily life, sociology, sociology’s social interaction and the development of identity in his works up to date. Our book which he wrote in 1963, emerges as translated into Damga: Örselenmiş Kimliğin İdare Edilişi Üzerine Notlar from its original Stigma: Notes on the Management of Spoiled Identity. In the introduction part, there are definitions and based on this, many examples, hence it leaves no room for doubts as to whether what is said is what you thought. Stigma gives light to terms such as deflection and heresy through social and personal identity. It is a very versatile, pleasant to read and a fast progressing work, so firstly I would like to congratulate @heretikyayin @heretikyayincilik and thank them for bringing in such an elaborate work to the field. @heretik_merkep I must point out that the introduction part was very successful because there were many paragraphs I wanted to underline. Also the language and narration was used in a way that everyone and all people who are interested in this field can understand. In fact, the source for my previous post is the book in question. Good readings, to those who are interested.
