SPOILER!!! Erica is like America which is but isn’t gained for Changez. He lives in America, contrarily he is out, because he feels himself like a stranger there. He does not belong to there. She always thinks about Chris. Chris represents Christianity or American Dream. Chris has died, but according to Erica, he is alive.Inreality, Chris (Christianity) is dream like American Dream. America exploits some areas/cities. While he does it, he uses Christianity as a powerful weapon.Christianity is only tool for exploitation.Similarly, Erica makes Changez miserable.There is only Chris for Erica. She always remembers the memories of Chris and herself. While Changez falls in love with her, he even wants to marry her, Changez is only good friend for her.
