Thom Holmes, New York'ta yaşayan bir yazar, müzik tarihçisi ve kitap editörüdür. Holmes, Temple Üniversitesi'nde Paul Epstein ile kompozisyon eğitimi aldı ve 1970'lerin başında Epstein'ın doğaçlama grubunun bir üyesiydi. 1979'dan 1985'e kadar Recordings of Experimental Music dergisinin yayıncısı ve editörüydü.
