Hz Ömer (ra) bir gün dostları ile otururken;
“Allah’ın kabul edeceği tek bir dileğiniz olsa ne isterdiniz?” diye sormuştu. Oradakilerden biri:
“Ben şu oda dolusu gümüşüm olsun da onu Allah yakında harcamak isterim.” dedi. Bir başkası:
“Bu oda dolusu mücevherim olsa da Allah yolunda harcasam, isterim.” Herkes dilediğini söyledikten sonra

Amschei Moses Bauer adlı (Aşkenaz) Yahudi bir kuyumcu 1750 yılında Frankfurt'a yerleşmeye karar verir veYahudi Caddesi bölgesinde bir dükkan açar. Bauer'in dükkanının kapısının üstünde işinin bir sembolü olarak 'kırmızı bir şilt' (ROTH =Kırmızı, SCHILD= Şilt ) asmıştı. İlginçtir ki bu sembol daha sonra devrimci doğu Avrupa Yahudilerinin kırmızı bayrağına dönüşecektir.
