I do not know what is exactly "absent father syndrome". However, there is an adjective in Kurdish which is "bêbav". It literally means "not having a Father". This adjective is used for cruel or brutal ones. For example, "çi zilamekî bêbav e." => "How a brutal man".
According to the book, absent father syndrome means that fathers are not included in their own son’s growth both physically and emotionally. It may seem similar meaning one that used in Kurdish
