Alienor decked herself with gold and jewels until she glittered like a treasure chest, but then her mind filled with the image of the Empress, overblown with embellishment, and with a grimace she took everything off again. No amount of adornment would compensate for youth and beauty; rather she would resemble a gaudy matriarch.
