Twentieth century starts with the Edwardian period and it is related to industrialization, mass media, modernism and postmodernism. Modernism is a reaction to Victorian realism and interrogates reality because nothing is certain. People gave importance to the fields like art and literature. In contrast, Postmodernism is a reaction to modernism. It is associated with the continuation of modernism. In this century, Absurd drama is important because it shows the isolation, alienation, subjectivity, and meaninglessness. Samuel Beckett’s waiting for godot is the most popular example of this drama. This play shows the meaninglessness of life, there is no purpose any characters in this life. There is no plot. There are always repeated dialogues and actions. The language is very simple and the ending is very absurd. They do not leave they still wait. It is a play without a play. In this play nothing happens and takes place on the stage.
