Before reading this book, I assumed it was a classic "American Dream" novel, and it's flashing the "old money lifestyle" of the 50s. But, I was wrong. Obviously, Fitzgerald blended the desperate romantic Gatsby with the era which makes the book heavier and sad. I really liked the clean writing and advice-type quotes about life. Despite all of this, I did not approve of the character development of Daisy. It was clearly obvious that The Great Gatsby was written by men since Daisy & Myrtle described as an object. Maybe he wrote that way just to show the old times behaviours towards women but - I noticed the lack of character development anyway.
