I think this was a good start for a series. It explained what the world is and also had a really good world building that didn't make you feel lost. However sometimes it felt a little too political with the things going on. Not that you wouldn't be able to understand it, but rather I often found myself looking at the glossary. But after you get passed the names and remember what everything is the story picks up and you get more drawn into the story.
