5/5 Stars (%89/100) I quickly read the English version when it was first released, and now, almost a year and a half later, the book is available in Turkish. Since I had read and loved the book before, reading it again was easy for me, but I also caught a few details I had missed the first time. Having read the original, I had the chance to evaluate the Turkish translation, which turned out to be quite successful. The illustrations by Alan Lee in the book are also magnificent. Structurally, the book is similar to Beren and Lúthien. You get to see the story of the Fall of Gondolin several times within the book. Christopher Tolkien included all the different versions of the story, from the earliest to the latest. You can see the old version of the text, the version in The Sketch of the Mythology, the version in Quenta Noldorinwa, and the final version. I particularly enjoyed seeing the differences between the earliest and latest versions of the story. It's interesting to see how many names Tolkien changed over time. The descriptions are fantastic, and the story and characters are highly engaging. I've always loved Gondolin and its Elves in The Silmarillion and Unfinished Tales. I'm especially fascinated by Turgon, the city's founder, and the part they played in the Nirnaeth Arnoediad, the Battle of Unnumbered Tears. In short, this is a beautiful book that no Tolkien fan should miss.
