Toni Morrison is one of few African-American writers I truly enjoy. It may sound cliche but I especially enjoyed Beloved. However, it is very obvious that she is difficult to read. The characters are very complex and the plot is often not linear. There are many elements in the book to consider so it makes it very difficult to comprehend.
I liked the fact that the characters were unique and represented unique jazz pieces. Jazz music appears as some kind of a character in the book. Though it seems like it deals with a basic murder, there are so many things going on. It was good overall.
