Fablehaven severek okuduğum bir seriydi. Bu yüzden bir yan serinin olduğunu öğrendiğimde çok heyecanlandım. Fablehaven evreninde olmayı seviyordum ancak kitap çok yavaş başladı, bir süre bunu umursamadım. Yazarın anlatımı basit, okunması kolay, bir paragraftan diğerine su gibi aktığı için aksiyonun yavaşlamasını da sorun etmedim. Her ne kadar kitabın birçok bölümünü beğenmiş olsam da bu beğenmediğim ve şikâyet etmediğim noktaların olmadığı anlamına gelmiyor. Önceki serinin ilk kitabında da benim için asıl sorun olan şey karakterlerdi. Bu dünyayı sevdiğimi düşünürsek ana karakterleri istediğim kadar sevemiyordum. Seth başına gelenlere rağmen aynı ölümcül hataları tekrarlamaktan vazgeçmiyor, bunu olabilecek en sinir bozucu şekilde yapıyor ve hikâye boyunca yaşının büyümüş olduğunu asla fark ettirmiyor. Aynı küçük çocuk ve aptalca hataları. Kendra hala hiçbir şey için adım atmak istemeyen ama tüm güçlere sahip olan korkak kız rolünü oynuyor. Ayrıca büyülü insanlarda gördüğü tek şey onların güzelliğidir, başına gelen kötülüklerden sonra bile her şeyin iyi olacağını düşünmesi çok saçma. Aksiyonu oluşturan hiç şey bana tehlikeli gelmedi. Kurgu ilerledikçe tehlikelerden herhangi bir çizik almadan kurtulacakları çok belliydi ve tahmin ettiğim gibide oldu. Çok fazla aksiyonumuz yoktu, sahip olduğumuz tek şey çok fazla bilgiydi. Ayrıca nasıl oldu da bir büyücü ve bir tek boynuzlu at sığınağı kurtaramadı? Bunlar evrendeki en güçlü yaratıklar ve 2 küçük çocuğun yardımına muhtaç kaldılar. Tüm kitap boyunca bir şeyler eksikti ve asla toparlanmadı.

“That’s true up to a point,” Raxtus said. “A respectable dragon wants to maintain a certain persona. Humans are supposed to be frozen with fear around dragons. Letting one pet you wrecks the ferociousness. And lighting up at the touch of a fairykind girl only makes it worse.”
