1954’te New York’ta, East Meadow’da doğdu. İlk çocuk hikâyesini lisedeyken yazdı. 1980’de hukuk fakültesinden mezun oldu, ancak avukatlık yapmak yerine kitap yazmaya karar verdi ve o günden bu yana yirmiyi aşkın çocuk kitabı yazdı.
