Samuel Barclay Beckett, (13 Nisan 1906; Foxrock, Dublin - 22 Aralık 1989, Paris), İrlandalı yazar, oyun yazarı, eleştirmen ve şair. 20. yüzyıl deneysel edebiyatının önde gelen yazarlarından biridir. James Joyce'un takipçisi olduğu için "son modernistlerden", daha sonraki pek çok yazarı etkilemiş olduğu için de "ilk postmodernistlerden" biri olarak değerlendirilir. Beckett ayrıca, Martin Esslin'in "Absürd Tiyatro" olarak adlandırdığı akımın en önemli yazarı sayılmaktadır. Eserlerinin çoğunu Fransızca ya da İngilizce yazıp, diğer dile kendisi çevirmiştir. En bilinen eseri Godot'yu Beklerken'dir.
Beckett'in eserleri sade ve temel olarak minimalisttir. Bazı yorumlara göre, çağdaş insanın durumu hakkında oldukça kötümser, hatta hiççi eserler vermiştir. Gittikçe daha kısa ve özlü eserler veren Beckett, bu kötümserliği kara mizah yoluyla anlatır. "Roman ve drama türlerinde yeni formlarda oluşturduğu eserlerini, modern insanın yoksunluğu üzerine kurguladığı" için, 1969'da Nobel Edebiyat Ödülü'ne layık görülen Beckett, ayrıca 1984'te Aosdána'da Saoi seçilmiştir.
