Ursula Vernon, Amerikalı bir serbest yazar, sanatçı ve illüstratördür. En çok Hugo ödüllü çizgi romanı Digger ve çocuk kitapları dizisi Hamster Princess ve Dragonbreath ile tanınır. T. Kingfisher kalem adı altında da yetişkinler için gerilim romanları yazar.
Ursula Vernon Oregon ve Arizona'da büyüdü ve ilk kez sanat dersleri aldığı Minnesota, Saint Paul'daki Macalester College'da antropoloji okudu. İlk olarak web çizgi romanlarıyla ve özellikle antropomorfik hayvanlar içeren çalışmalarıyla tanındı. Daha sonra, ilk kez 2008'de yayınlanan bir dizi çocuk kitabını ve ardından T. Kingfisher (Türkiye'de -yalıçapkını- olarak bilinen kuşun adıdır) takma adıyla yetişkinlere yönelik kitapları yazmaya ve resimlemeye başladı. Farklı isim kullanırken amacı çocuklara yazdığı kitaplar ile yetişkinler için yazdığı kitapların karışmamasıydı. Hugo Ödülü ve Nebula Ödülü de dahil olmak üzere çok sayıda ödül kazandı.
