Marvin Karlins ile birlikte "The Like Switch" adlı kitabı yazmıştır. Schafer, "Yazılı ve Sözlü İletişimde Aldatmacayı Tespit Etmek İçin Profesyonel Bir Yöntem olan Psikolojik Anlatı Analizi" başlıklı bir kitap da yazmıştır. "İleri Mülakat Teknikleri" adlı bir kitabı daha vardır.
