Charles Willeford (D. 1919), at terbiyeciliği, boksörlük, radyo spikerliği ve ressamlığın yanı sıra, aralarında The Burnt Orange Heresy, Pick-Up, Cockfighter ve Miami Blues'un da bulunduğu bir düzineyi aşkın kitap yazdı.
2. Dünya Savaşı'nda Üçüncü Ordu'da tank komutanıydı. Savaş kahramanlıkları, Silver Star, Bronze Star, Purple heart ve Luxembourg Croix de Guerre madalyalarıyla ödüllendirildi.
