Fenomenoloji ve hümanistik psikolojiye yaptığı katkılarla tanınan Amerikalı bir psikologdur. Psikolojide Tanımlayıcı Fenomenolojik Yöntemi geliştirmiştir.
Giorgi, deneysel psikoloji alanındaki doktorasını 1958 yılında Fordham Üniversitesi'nden almıştır. Birkaç yıl boyunca hükümet ve endüstri için insan faktörleri danışmanı olarak çalıştıktan sonra Giorgi, Manhattan College'da başlayan akademik kariyerine Duquesne Üniversitesi ve daha sonra Montreal'deki Quebec Üniversitesi'nde devam etti.

When we say the experience of the world implies a subject we do not mean that it determines the subject; or if we say that any consideration of a subject necessarily implies a world, we do not mean that the subject determines the world. In both cases, the meaning of the implication has still to be worked out, but the very fact that it is not already determined and fixed means that there is a degree of freedom or a certain openness.
