“It was. And it’s not over.” Palming the side of her face, he murmurs, “You and that baby. My whole heart. My stars. You fucking have me, Tess. Never doubt that.”
She curls her fingers in his dark chest hair. “I won’t.”
“Fuck, but what I wouldn’t do for you, Tessie.”
“Tell me.” She moans hoarsely. “Tell me what you’d do for me.”
“Anything,” he growls. The truest words he’s ever uttered. Knowing he may not survive them. “Anything for you and that baby. Kill for you, burn the earth, fuck you senseless, name it. Anything.”
“Are you sure you’re ready?” she whispers between breathless kisses, thinking of Serena. She doesn’t want to push him.
She doesn’t want to lose him.
“I’m ready,” he murmurs, his voice cracking. “All my life, I’ve been ready for you.”
Her eyes flutter. So does her heart.
“You’re mine, Tessie,” Solomon promises hoarsely against her ear.
Her head spins, her legs go weak, but he braces her against him, holding her up.
“You and that baby—you’re both mine.”
“You said they shine the brightest in your hometown.”
“Not anymore. You’re my star, Tess.” He places a hand over his chest. “You shine here. In my heart.”
“Try for Bear, right?”
“No.” His voice is loud and clear, picking up on her hesitation. “Not just for Bear. We try for us. Because, Tessie, baby, I want you.”
