It should be noted that the writer is a woman by the full name of Frances Mary Cowan Minaker, who was born December 17, 1894 in Detroit, Michigan. (many thanks to the Library of Congress for their fantastic online catalog). She died in 1957 in Chicago, Illinois at the young age of 62.
Frances Mary Cowan Minaker or F.C. Minaker was 42 at the time the book was published in 1936. If Warren Buffett read it at age seven and was born in 1930, then he would have read it one year after the initial publication (83 years ago). No doubt F.C. used or was told to use an abreviated name so as to anonoymize her gender as so many female authers, creators and editiors have throughout history. She was the daughter of Willliam Cowan and Addie Beck.
