I hope no one who reads this book has been quite as miserable as Susan and Lucy were that night; but if you have been—if you've been up all night and cried till you have no more tears left in you— you will know that there comes in the end a sort of quietness. You feel as if nothing was ever going to happen again. At any rate that was how it felt to these two. Bu arada durumumuz oldukça iyi. Bir radyo ve sürüyle de kitap var.
Seninle karşılaşmadan önce insanların nasıl olduğunu bilmiyordum.
Kitapta geçen, büyülü Türk Lokumu
“Âdemoğlu” dedi Kraliçe aniden, “bir şeyler yemeden, içmenin tadı olmaz. Ne yemek istersin?”
“Türk lokumu, lütfen Majesteleri” dedi Edmund.
Kraliçe matarasından kara bir damla daha damlattı ve aniden yeşil ipek bir kurdeleyle bağlı yuvarlak bir kutu belirdi. Kutuda kilolarca en iyi cins Türk lokumu vardı. Bütün lokumlar tatlı ve hafifti. Edmund hayatında bundan daha lezzetli bir şeyin tadına bakmamıştı. Şimdi içi oldukça ısınmıştı ve çok da rahattı.
