At the beginning of the book, there is a passion for observing people brought on by extreme loneliness. Which is something I do most of the time with a lot of love. I think it is a result of this thought, in reflecting the events around him and what he saw with an excessive description. Tired of business life, watching the people between the wheels of the machine, the main character felt sorry for them, thinking how much more alive he was than those people.
