I had watched the French TV series Arsène Lupin in the 70s and I really liked it as a young boy. I finally read the book that inspired the TV series, albeit around 50 years later.
I found the narrative with constant moves and counter-moves by Lupin rather simplistic, maybe with a large set of good examples from crime fiction I accumulated over half a century. I found the “mystery” rather bland. I am aware that I am acting rather anachronistically, but this is my feeling after reading the first book of the series.
