The Stranger follows Meursault, a man indifferent to his mother’s death, who later commits a murder and faces society’s judgment. The novel explores alienation, morality, and the absurdity of life.

Camus’nün bu eseri yazarken Fyodor Dostoyevsky’nin işlediği temalardan esinlenmiş olabileceğini düşünüyorum. Yalın bir anlatım diliyle hayatın anlamı, inanç ve vicdan gibi konulara değiniyor. Aynı zamanda bir psikopatın mentalitesini kısa ve öz bir şekilde yansıtmayı başarıyor. Edebiyatta en antipatik protagonistlerden birine sahip eserlerden biri olduğunu söyleyebilirim.
I think Camus may have been inspired by themes explored by Fyodor Dostoyevsky when writing this work. With a simple and direct style, he touches on themes like the meaning of life, belief, and conscience. At the same time, he effectively portrays the mindset of a psychopath in a concise way. I’d say this book features one of the most unlikable protagonists in literature.
