Gorki, sözde bir annenin gözünden Rusya’daki devrimci hareketi anlatmayı amaçlar, ancak anlatım dili ne yazık ki oldukça beceriksiz ve tek bir karakter etrafında dönüp duran tekdüze bir yapıya sahiptir. Roman olmasına rağmen çok seslilikten yoksun kalan anlatı, zamanla monotonlaşır ve okur için sıkıcı bir hâl almaya başlar. Hikâye boyunca ne güçlü bir gerilim ne de belirgin bir doruk noktası sunulur.
Review:
Gorky attempts to portray the revolutionary movement in Russia through the perspective of a mother; however, the narrative style remains rather clumsy and limited to a single character, resulting in a monotonous structure. Despite being a novel, the story lacks depth and narrative variety, gradually becoming dull. It offers neither a strong sense of tension nor a compelling climax.
