Other international comparisons show that U.S. per capita expenditures on healthcare are by far the highest in the world, followed at some distance by Switzerland and Germany. And in proportion of the GDP spent on education, the United States (with 7.3 percent) ranks second behind South Korea (8.2 percent) and ahead of Denmark (7.1 percent), Iceland (6.7 percent), and Sweden (6.5 percent).
