Brilliant!
5/5 Stars (%93/100) This is actually much better than I expected. I originally planned to get the audiobook version because I love listening to Stephen Fry (especially after listening to his "Victorian Secrets"). Things happened and I ended up reading this (not that I regret anything). This has become the number one book that I'll suggest about mythology (Greek at least). The one thing I really liked about this is the storytelling which reminds me of Neil Gaiman. This is one of the reasons why I really liked his Norse Mythology. It is true that it gives a lot of useful information about Norse mythology but the way he gives that information is what matters to me. The same thing happened with Fry's book as well. I did not particularly learn anything new but it was still fun to read about the things I already know, not many writers can do that. There are a lot of stories about Greek mythology and its major figures. In addition, it is great that Fry mentions underrated stories and figures like Arachne, Eos and Tithonus, Phrygia and so forth. Most of the mythology books out there talk only about the Olympians and certain well-known stories. The stories are detailed but easy and fun to read. Overall, I think this is a great book to just enjoy and also learn a lot of stuff. Definitely recommended!
