Even now, our group, shall we say… We still put in a lot of effort. We don’t give up, and thinking of our fans who’re supporting us we’re like, ‘Let’s try it, whatever it may be.’ And that’s scary, too. Because you can’t help thinking it can all come crashing down someday. But we take great pride in each other. We’ve always tried our best, and we’re continuing to try our best. I think that’s worthy of some respect.

The book which Felix gave to Safie was Volney's Ruins of Empires. Through this book I gained a knowledge of history. It opened before me a door into understanding the manners, governments, and different nations of the world. This book confused me greatly. How was man so powerful and cruel at the same time? Sometimes man seemed to be wicked and godlike to me. For a long time, I could not understand how one man could murder his fellow. or why there were laws and governments. And when I heard of war I turned away with disgust. When I listened to Felix, the strange system of human society was explained to me. I heard of poverty and wealth, money and gold. This book made me look at myself. What was I? I had no money, no friends and no property. I was not even of the same nature as man. I could stand cold and heat easily. I was more powerful. Was a monster from which all men ran and one that all men hated? I cannot describe to you the pain that these thoughts gave me. My sorrow increased with knowledge. Nobody would help me. I admired my kind dwellers, but I could not even talk to them. The gentle words of Agatha and the kind smiles of the Arabian were not for me. The lovely melody of the old man and the interesting conversations with Felix were also not for me. Lonely, unhappy monster! What was I? This question again came to my mind, but I could only answer it with my bitter cries."

The effect of overrracting Imagination
Psychologists call this practice labeling or naming: we specify the emotion we are feeling in order to more effectively manage it. When we articulate what is happening, we give ourselves a choice in how to respond. This technique is especially effective when what is preyenting us from staying present is the intensity of our emo- tions. If, for instance, we find ourselves in a stressful situation, tell- ing ourselves things like "This is my anxiety speaking" or "I am having a strong reaction to what's happening" can help us return to the present. Labeling emotions can provide clarity in the moment (That's my fear rearing its ugly head.) and control (This fear comes from my overactive imagination and I don't need to pay it mind right ong pro now.). This process helps us gain distance from what we are feeling and regulate our emotions in real time.¹ You can employ labeling not just for managing strong emotions in the moment, like when we are in the face of anxiety, but also for managing thoughts that are rote, neutral, or nonemotionaly

We don’t all need to be Einsteins or even physicists to appreciate how light behaves or to understand something profound about the nature of space and time, in just the same way we don’t need to have studied vaccinology to understand that getting a flu jab will protect us. We can stand on the shoulders of giants, lean on the strengths and knowledge of others who have put in the years to gain expertise that can then be shared with the rest of us. So, even if we encounter something we don’t understand right away, we can still make an effort and take some time to try. Sometimes it is for no better reason than to expand our minds; sometimes it can help us make a decision that will benefit us in our daily lives. Either way, we are the richer for it.
The real world is messy and often far too complicated to simplify. There is a well-known joke—to physicists, at any rate—about a dairy farmer who wishes to find a way of increasing the milk production of his cows and so seeks the help of a team of theoretical physicists. After carefully studying the problem, the physicists finally tell him they have found a solution, but that it only works if they assume a spherical cow in a vacuum. Not everything can be made simpler.

A democratized science can help to protect against the emergence of dogma, whereby an entire community of scientists in a particular field accepts a set of assumptions or ideas as being absolute without ever questioning them further, to the extent that dissenting voices are suppressed or dismissed. However, there is an important distinction to be made between dogma and consensus, for sometimes the two can be confused. Established scientific ideas have earned the right to be widely accepted and trusted, even though they could one day be improved upon or replaced, because they have so far survived the myriad and diverse questions and tests to which they’ve been subjected.
