"There are different ways to die. There's jumping off a roof and there's slowly poisoning yourself with the flesh of another every single day."
"...but the great thing about this life of ours is that you can be someone different to everybody."

I hold on behind me, happy no one seems to have noticed, because, let's face it, it's hard to look fearless when you're clutching the railing like a chicken.
And here's something else he'd never believe. I'm fighting to be here in this shitty, messed-up world. Standing on the ledge of the bell tower isn't about dying. It's about having control. It's about never going to sleep again.
The world breaks everyone, and afterward, many are strong at the broken places.
What if life could be this way? Only the happy parts, none of the terrible, not even the mildly unpleasant. What if we could just cut out the bad and keep the good? This is what I want to do with Violet—give her only the good, keep away the bad, so that good is all we ever have around us.

She is oxygen, carbon, hydrogen, nitrogen, calcium, and phosphorus. The same elements that are inside the rest of us, but I can’t help thinking she’s more than that and she’s got other elements going on that no one’s ever heard of, ones that make her stand apart from everybody else. I feel this brief panic as I think, What would happen if one of those elements malfunctioned or just stopped working altogether?
The problem with people is they forget that most of the time it’s the small things that count.
"She was my best friend.” “I’ve never had one. What’s it like?” “I don’t know. I guess you can be yourself, whatever that means— the best and the worst of you. And they love you anyway. You can fight, but even when you’re mad at them, you know they’re not going to stop being your friend.”

Because she’s the first person I’ve met who seems to speak my language. A few words of it anyway.

I like best about Charlie and Bren is that I don’t have to explain myself. I come, I go, and "Oh well, it’s just Finch."

The rules of geocaching say “take something, leave something.” The way I figure it, we stand to get something out of each place, so why not give something back? Also, it’s a way to prove we’ve been there, and a way to leave a part of us behind.

-It’s late. -That depends on who you ask. See, I don’t necessarily think it’s late. I think it’s early. Early in our lives. Early in the night. Early in the new year. If you’re counting, you’ll notice the earlys outnumber the lates. It’s just to talk.

I learned that there is good in this world if you look hard enough for it...
