5/5 Stars (%94/100)
This is one of the books that I am writing my thesis on, the other being American Gods by Gaiman again. I've read the book before (in Turkish) but I decided to read it to understand it. It is much better in the original language this is not even a debate. I tried to read as slowly as possible but in the last two days I think I've read more than 200 pages because 1) it was super fun and interesting 2) I am going to have to read it later anyway so there is no need for me to read it slowly anymore.
Compared to American Gods, this is shorter and easier to understand. Yet, the characters are still brilliant. I have to say I like Fat Charlie more than Shadow (from American Gods) himself. There is this mysterious charisma he has just like Spider and Anansi. Since I am also a huge fan of trickster gods, this book is simply brilliant. I am glad that I chose this book for my thesis because I will never get tired of it even if I have to read it 20 times, something I will probably do while writing it. In short, the characters are written beautifully, the story is interesting, the language and tone are great, and finally if you like Gaiman's works especially American Gods, you'll love this book.
