5/5 Stars (%86/100) An extremely underrated short story from a Native-American writer. I was fortunate enough to study this short story in one of my classes. The story is about spirits and dead people. Dead people are always depicted as vengeful spirits in American films, books, and so forth. The author tries to show people that dead people are more like familiars, not vengeful spirits. The dead are respected in the Native American community and they usually bury their dead under their houses so they would continue to protect them even in death. The story mentions a mysterious girl named "Bone Girl" and she is one of those spirits who try scare people in order to help them. The language is beautiful, the story is interesting and it portrays the Native-American culture brilliantly.
