Dr. Edith has challenged my perspective and made me reflect on my own life and how I view it. I believe that reading this book will change the way I look at life. Name of this book remainds me a speech of Haifaa Younis which is called the best Ramadan. She talked about some tests in our lifes. She was evaluating our attitude towards the difficulties we face in life. She was explaining the concept of being hopeful as recommended by the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him). She briefly explained this long and deep issue as follows: Every gift is a test and every test is a gift.

Macaristan kökenli Dr. Edith Eva Eger, ailesiyle birlikte, korkunç ölüm kampı Auschwitz’e 1944’te gönderildiğinde genç bir kızdı. Anne babası orada hayatını kaybetti. Bugün doksan yaşında olan Dr. Eger, La Jolla, California’da yoğun bir klinik psikoloji çalışması yapmakta, San Diego’daki California Üniversitesi’nde görevini sürdürmekte ve ülke çapında ve yurtdışında düzenli aralıklarla ders vermekte, aynı zamanda ABD Ordu ve Donanması’nda PTSB tedavisi ve çalışması için danışmanlık yapmaktadır. Aralarında The Oprah Winfrey Show ve CNN’in Auschwitz’den kurtulmanın yetmişinci yılına özel programının da bulunduğu sayısız televizyon programına katılmış ve Alman Ulusal Televizyonu’nda Holokost belgeselinin birincil öznesi olmuştur. Dr. Eger 1972’de Yılın Psikoloji Eğitmeni, 1987’de El Paso’da Yılın Kadını seçilmiş, 1992’de California Eyaleti Senatosu İnsanlık Ödülü’nü almıştır. Viktor Frankl’ın doksanıncı yaş kutlamasında Uluslararası Logoterapi Konferası’nda açılış konuşması yapan Dr. Eger’ın ilk kitabı “Elleri Olmayan Kız”dır.
