Rezalet Bir Çeviri
Puan vermedi
1-) Orijinal kitaptan bir cümle: "The garden was overgrown, full of red-flowering oleanders and with Asiatic pines round a ruined fountain." 2-) Orijinal dilde bir betimleme: "...with moving wrinkles under them as though the whole lower part of his face were on a hinge." Ama Türkçe çevirisi: "Zeki gözlerinin altında kırışıklıklar görülüyordu." 3-) Kırpılmış paragraflardan bir örnek: "The Street of Tombs lies outside the walls of Pompeii. It leads from the Herculaneum Gate, descending a shallow hill like a broad trough of paving-blocks between a footway on either side. Cypresses stand up over it, and make this street of the dead seem alive. Here are the burial-vaults of the patricians, the squat altars hardly yet blackened to ruin. When this man heard his own footsteps there, he felt merely that he had got into a neglected suburb. The hot, hard light shone on paving-stones worn to ruts by cartwheels; on grass sprouting in cracks, and

I honestly don't know where to start... I guess this story meant to have feminist themes, but the characters were so shallow and caricatural that it actually felt anti-feminist. Actually, the whole story reads like an anti-feminist's idea of a dystopian liberal women's community. It's baffling that the premise relies on a community of women who want to live away from men, yet they are still so heavily dependent on a male writer for their economic well-being. There are digital jobs, you know? A lot of women sell things on Etsy or find creative ways to make a living. We see real-world examples of resilient women (even those who never had the chance to go to school) supporting themselves and their communities independently every day. Yet, this book insists on keeping everything male-oriented. There were no inspiring stories here, just women needing a male writer to make money so they could live like Smurfs. ALSO, THEY COULD HAVE JUST FOUND A FEMALE WRITER WHO WANTED TO LIVE ON AN ISLAND! Also, sorry, but what was that murder plan? Grady lying on the road dressed as a woman? Really? Is this dude a cartoon bandit? And why the cross-dressing? This is the second Alice Feeney book I've read where the villain is a man dressed as a woman. Furthermore, how did his wife not hear him talking on the ground, see the phone, or hear the car approaching through the call? It feels like the author tried too hard to create a twist, to the point where it stopped making any sense. Anyway, to be fair, this book was actually interesting and I couldn't stop reading for a while but the ending was just so disappointing that it immediately lost 3 stars from me.

I read Empire of Flame and Thorns in English, so it felt only natural to share my thoughts in the same language. Writing this review in English just feels more honest and connected to the reading experience. ( Spoiler Alert!) So ,fantasy has always been a genre that captures my interest especially when it includes an “enemies to lovers” dynamic. I can never pass up a story like that. Empire of Flame and Thorns caught my attention for that very reason. But as I turned the pages, I realized this book was not just about romance or the usual magic tropes it was much more than that. The main character, Selena, doesn’t fit the typical “most powerful female lead” mold. She does have powers, but they’re limited. Especially in the earlier chapters, she sometimes fades into the background compared to the other characters. And that actually makes her feel more realistic and relatable. One thing that stood out to me from the beginning was that she never tried to use her power to manipulate others she just wants people to love her. That alone set her apart from many other “perfect” heroines. Selena feels more sincere, more human and that’s exactly why I found her so compelling. Selena is forced to take part in a deadly competition filled with incredibly powerful opponents. At this point, the strongest Dragon Shifter, Darven, tries to stop her from joining the contest. At first, I thought he was doing it either because he was authoritarian or still holding a grudge over the drink incident. But as the story progressed, a different reason slowly became clear: Darven was afraid something terrible would happen to Selena. As the competition went on, the gray areas between the characters became increasingly obvious. For example, Alistair, who first appeared harsh and threatening, clearly

the book tells the story of darren, an ordinary boy whose life takes a completely different turn after he secretly visits a freak show with his friends and makes a deal with a vampire. the story is both dark and intriguing. it features strange creatures, mysterious characters, and a very strong atmosphere, but the language is very simple and easy to read. one of the things i loved most is that the characters actually behave like children. there’s no fake heroism—darren makes mistakes, gets scared, feels regret, and that makes him feel very real. especially towards the end, the events are quite intense; even though it’s a children’s book, it has a strong emotional side. also, this is just the first book, and the series is quite long, but even the first book alone makes for a great introduction. it’s easy to read, but definitely not shallow. if you're looking for something gothic and gripping, i think you'll like it. give it a try.
