Petra Palerno is a lifelong weirdo who loves writing otherworldy romance and erotica. If it's got any combination of aliens, fae, or other assorted monsters count her in. She lives in the Midwest with her husband and a menagerie of spoiled pets. She can often be seen making a cocktail at her in-home tiki bar and lurching away into her writer's cave like the true goblin she is.

His breathing is ragged. “Opal, you're so perfect, I…I…”
The poor boy can’t catch his breath.
“Don’t worry, I’ll let you repay the favor later,” I say.
“You are the best, slightly overbearing alien boyfriend a recently abducted girl could have.” She raises an eyebrow and smirks as I frown in her direction. “I didn’t say I didn’t like it, you big dummy.”
“I’ll take overbearing as long as you keep calling me your boyfriend.”
I am not the comforting type. When my parents died, I just kind of shut down. It’s as if I couldn’t remember how to be Opal.
“You’re not allowing yourself the proper space to grieve,” my therapist would tell me.
But if I allowed myself the space I needed to truly grieve them, I’m not sure there would have been space left for anything else. I wouldn’t have been able to work, I wouldn’t have been able to go about the stupid day-to-day things that simply needed to get done. I would have been stuck in a perpetual cycle of screaming, crying, and throwing up.
They are insufferable, haughty and stuck up from a lifetime of grooming. I am the end goal for years of etiquette classes: a handsome and wealthy prince who could bring more prestige to their own families. I am a trophy.
I have no idea what planets have aligned to have this goddess on display next to me, but if the wars have taught me anything it’s to enjoy the good times while they’re here.
