Can you use a fictional character from another story as an inspiration for your own? For instance the protagonist of my novel says that he met Indiana Jones in Mexico in 1959 and recounts their conversations and finally tells that this event inspired him to study archaeology. The whole flashback of their encounter is no longer than 6 pages. It clearly makes reference to known Indiana Jones frenchise but apart from my protagonist's conveying of this encounter, Indiana Jones plays no active role in the novel.

I’m trying to finish my bucket list, which includes read 100 books in a year. I’m mostly focusing on classes so far, and I’m starting to get a bit of a reader’s block. What should I read next? (I’ve only read 45 books so far this year)

I loved Crazy Ladies. Partly because I love novels that capture an intimate view of history. Partly because I found my own life in its cross-hairs. Written by Michael Lee West and published in 1990, Crazy Ladies recounts the life of Miss Gussie, a smalltown Tennessee woman who has two daughters. It covers her family history from 1932 to
Hi so I don't know if this is the right place to post this but I've been trying to find a book for ages and I only remember the story! It was about a boy and his mother who at the start of the book escaped from his abusive father (a vivid thing i remember is them in a train station running and the father almost caught them but got stopped by station staff). They got away to a village quite a way away from their home and the boy met a girl and was finding it hard living there. I'm pretty sure throughout the book hes constantly worried about the dad trying to find them again but the mother always reassures him. I don't wanna go into more detail in fear of maybe spoiling the rest of the book but that was a basic summary, id really appreciate it if someone could help cuz this has been eating away at me for ages Thank you!
