I. INTRODUCTION: THE PURPOSE OF THE NOVEL
Tess of the d’Urbervilles is Thomas Hardy’s most powerful and controversial novel, written as a direct challenge to Victorian moral, religious, and sexual values. Through the life of Tess Durbeyfield, a poor rural woman, Hardy exposes the cruelty of a society that equates female worth with sexual “purity,” excuses male transgression, and disguises injustice as moral order.
Hardy does not present Tess as a fallen woman seeking redemption. Instead, he presents her as morally pure from beginning to end, and argues that the true corruption lies not in Tess, but in the social systems that destroy her.
II. DETAILED SUMMARY (WITH SPOILERS)
1. Origins and the Weight of Ancestry
Tess Durbeyfield is the eldest daughter of a poor rural family in Wessex. Her life changes when her father learns that they may be descended from the ancient aristocratic d’Urberville family. This discovery fills her parents with ambition and false hope, while Tess herself feels unease rather than pride.
When Tess accidentally causes the death of the family’s horse, Prince—their sole means of livelihood—she feels intense guilt and responsibility. This event, driven by chance rather than moral fault, sets the tragic pattern of her life: random misfortune followed by self-blame.
To help her family recover financially, Tess is sent to seek help from the wealthy d’Urbervilles—unaware that they are not true aristocrats, but merely have purchased the name.
2. Alec d’Urberville and Sexual Violation
At Trantridge, Tess meets Alec d’Urberville, a manipulative and predatory man who immediately fixates on her. Despite Tess’s repeated resistance and discomfort, Alec pursues her relentlessly.

Aslında konu iyiydi tanıdık olduğu halde ama bazı şeyler olayı patlattı . Öncelikle yine gereksiz uzundu 100 sayfa bomboş tekrar eden olaylarla geçti . Dili biraz zayıf geldi bana oda eksi oldu mesela . Fakat kadın karakter ilk defa erkek karakterin yaptıklarını cidden burnundan getirdi :P
Maria 25 yaşında çok hoş bir kadın beş senedir Diego'nun sağ kolu sekreteri olarak çalışıyor . Adama bir hayranlığı var ama asla aralarında bir şey yaşanmamış adam zaten manyak iş odaklı çok yakışıklı ve kibirli . Bunlar bir şekilde bir gece sonunda tek kerelik bir şey yaşadılar fakat ertesi gün kız hiç olmamış gibi devam etti . Bunun lafı edilmedi zaten adama bunu söyledi onun işine geldi tabi zaten kız bir ay sonra şirketten ayrılmayı planlıyordu . Bence son derece mantıklı olarak çünkü adama ilgisi var ama bir halt çıkmayacağından emin . . Bir ay sonra kız korundukları halde hamile kalınca olay patladı tabi . Bu eziyet kısmı uzadı gereksiz anladık zira temelini :P Sonra tabi çocuk doğunca kendisinin olduğunu anladı fakat kadın buna kan kusturdu oda aşırı uzadı :P Diego abi bir sene köpek oldu tam anlamıyla sonunda yavaştan affetti kadın ikici sene sonu evlendiler .
The Don serisinin ilk kitabı lanet olsun ki tekleme gidecek bir seri zannedip başladım meğer ilk kitabın sonra devamı olacakmış . Yani bunun belirtilmemesi büyük rezillik bence . Birde kitap korkunç bir noktada kaldı şimdi ne zaman çıkacağı belli olmayan devam kitabını bekle dur :(
Üstelik ben dil anlatım çift hepsini beğendim beğenmesem umurum olmayacaktı :P
Camilla Santore mafya ailesinde uygun bir gelin gibi yetiştirilmiş pek güzel bir kızımız . Bu eskiden beri tanıdığı arkadaş olduğu diğer bir ailenin oğlu ile evlenecek ayarlanmış bu olay . Tam düğün günü damadı en yakın kız arkadaşı ile seks yaparken görünce kız gelin odasından kaçıyor .
Alfonso Pontisello tam bir efsane tipini bile herkes bilmiyor beyaz tavşan diye lakabı var falan :P Bu hiyerarşinin en tepe ailesinin baş oğlu adam bir içim su tabi full dövmeler ile :D
Bu adamda ayarlanmış bir evlilik yapacak ve onunda evleneceği hatun git bunu aldat ki bu nasıl bir cürret bilemiyorum :D Adam kadınla evlilikten vazgeçiyor ve ailesi için ölüm emri veriyor . Fakat belli sebeplerden derhal gelin lazım sağ kolu Nico bizim kaçak gelin Camilla ile asansörde karşılaıyor . Kızı kolundan tutup Affons'ya getiriyor karşılıklı konuşuluyor bunlar evlenmeye karar veriyor . Bu noktada kız adamı sıradan bir Don zannediyor . Evlilik oluyor hatta bazı törensel durumlarla oluyor . Kızın ailesi ve kız adamın aslında kim olduğunu öğrenince şok oluyorlar .
Şimdi kız dik halleri olan bir hatun eyvah dedim can sıkacak ama öyle olmadı ve bunu çok sevdim. Bazı mantıklı isteklerini adama ne yaptı etti kabul ettirdi . Asıl olay kız kocasına bayıldı bunlar yatakta falan fişek gibiler ama adamın bazı şiddet kontrol sorunları var . The story begins with Poppy losing her beloved grandmother, a pillar in her life. Before saying goodbye, her grandmother leaves her an unforgettable gift: a jar filled with 1,000 little notes. On each of these notes, Poppy is meant to capture every precious moment of happiness and love she experiences. She calls it her "thousand kisses," and this gift becomes a profound symbol of joy and hope.
The novel then tells the beautiful love story of two teenagers, Poppy and Rune, who share an intense and seemingly unbreakable bond. Their youth is filled with moments of pure happiness, until an event disrupts their balance: Rune’s father is transferred to another country, forcing his family to move. Despite the distance, Poppy and Rune promise to keep their love alive and maintain their connection.
However, life has other plans. Without explanation, Poppy suddenly cuts off all contact with Rune, leaving him in unbearable confusion and pain. Rune desperately tries to reach her, but his efforts are in vain. Over the years, this separation deeply transforms Rune. He is no longer the calm and kind boy he once was. Instead, he is consumed by anger and pain, directed at his family, at Poppy, and at the world.
One day, the two teenagers reunite. But time and the wounds of the past have left deep scars. Will they be able to talk to each other again? Will they forgive one another? Will their love be strong enough to overcome the challenges that stand in their way?
I’ll stop here to avoid revealing too much, but this novel beautifully explores themes of love, loss, and forgiveness.
Personally, there are two things that touched me deeply in this book:
Poppy’s efforts to rebuild the bond between Rune and his father.
Rune’s relationship with his little brother, who tries to imitate him
