Meeehhh
2/5 Stars (%35/100) A huge meh for me. -The characters are shallow and mostly two-dimensional. I found them boring and could not feel any connection. The way the story is told is also has a role in this. -Reading immigrant experience is usually interesting and touching but this one focused solely on the negative aspects. At one point it makes you think that "Has nothing good happened to these girls at all?" -The story is told in reverse (Starting from 1989 to 1956) and I think this was the biggest mistake. It would be much better if we experience the things they did from childhood to adulthood. This kind of storytelling works much better in sci-fi novels in my opinion. -Even though it is a novel (apparently) well, it is not actually. The book is split into three sections and many chapters. Each chapter is actually a short story and most of them are not connected to each other at all. When you finish one and move on to the next, you don't really feel anything, it does not affect you. -The language and her style were okay even though this is my first book from her. I didn't hate it but it gets 2 stars barely.
