Anita Shreve, New York Times, Magazine, Cosmopolitan, Esquire gibi dergilere gerçek yaşamı anlatan yazılar yazmış ve kısa öyküleriyle ödüller almış bir yazardı. Weight of the Water adlı kitabı aylarca çok satan kitaplar listelerinin üst sıralarında kaldı. Anita Shreve, göz boyamaya yanaşmayan, gerçeklerden taviz vermeyen bir yazardı.
