Disappointment. Let’s be fr right now, this is just horrible writing. Any 9th grader could write better than this. Unlike Fourth Wing, I struggled while reading this one. Because it drags and drags and it’s like we’re stuck in a loop. Everything about this book is repetitive. FW had problems, but all those problems get even worse in IF. It’s so badly written that all those pivotal moments fell flat and ended up being anticlimactic as hell. It never got a reaction out of me.
Obviously, this was a filler book. I’m still invested in the story, I love these characters and i’m obsessed with these dragons. Especially Andarna. So yeah, you’ll definitely catch me reading the third book.
18/08/2023 Although i’m obsessed with dragons, I’m not much of a fantasy reader. I mean, i used to be, but i haven’t been for about 10 years. Halfway through, i thought to myself, “this may be the best fantasy book i’ve ever read” but then it slowly became less interesting and more generic and wattpad-ish. It has plotholes and it’s a bit overlong too. I usually leave fantasy books halfway through when this happens, but FW is gripping and easy to read since the writing is quite simple. That was exactly what i needed though… a beginner friendly fantasy book. I also don’t enjoy YA stuff so it was nice reading about adults this time. I enjoyed the overall ride. She has too many (male) voices inside her head, it must be crazy to be her.
Reread: 16/04/24: SOOOOOO easy to digest Got me out of the reading slump.
kitabın sonu çok tahmin edilebilir olmasına rağmen okurken sürekli apartman sakinlerinin hayal güçleri ve gerçeklikleri arasında gidip gelmek keyifliydi
Thank you for the written guidelines on how to create, build and raise a new government from scratch, it just birthed a new threat (me) for the current government. Jokes aside, it was actually a quite saddening read for me. We can see how it inspired Ataturk’s vision for Turkey.
the influence of edgar allan poe is clear as day. shiro hamao’s style quite similar to poe’s. the first story is unapologetically queer and misogynist. the second one is an interesting whodunnit/whydunnit, it’s a wild ride that constantly had me guessing. if you ask me, my guess was much better. the plot twist in my head was the discovery of odetari being gay. i feel like it was always hinted that way.. or am i tripping? the motive for the murders would be more tragic if seizo and odetari were lovers; whether he did it out of sheer jealousy or by accident. then all that mystery would add to the tragicality of it all if odetari kept silent to hide his queer identity.
