Ayyyy öncelikle nereden başlasam bilemiyorum ama kitaba düşük puan vermemin iki sebebi var. Kitap yazarın önceki kitaplarında olduğu gibi heyecanlı bir başlangıç yapıyor ve sizi ilerleyen bir olayın içine sürüklüyor ama daha sonra smut ve basit olaylar dışında hiçbir şey görmüyoruz. Final aksiyonu kesinlikle yetersiz ve cılız. Düşük puan vermemin sebeplerinden biri bu kurgu eksikliği. Diğeri ise ana erkek karakterin kadın karakter hakkında “Ona şu an t*cavüz edebilirim ama yapmayacağım. Durumundan faydalanabilirim ama yapmayacağım” şeklinde düşüncelere sahip olması. Bir de sana teşekkür mü edecektik paşam kıza t*cavüz etmedin diye? Bu kısım beni aşırı sinirlendirdi ve uzun süre boyunca kitaba odaklanmamı engelledi. Zaman kaybı olduğunu düşünüyorum birçok açıdan. İki övdük hemen kendini dağıttı yazar.
My king turns his dark eyes onto my former betrothed, and I watch him and his guards pale.
“How dare you insult my queen.” His voice cuts through the clearing like a knife. “You hurl those disgusting words against the woman I love. Saying she is no more than breeding stock and a few bits of gold. She is worth more than any coin. Any jewel. She is worth more than life.”
“Enough.”
Emrys’s voice cuts through the clearing with authority. Even the breeze stops blowing.
Shame, an ugly and all too familiar emotion makes my eyes lower.
“Never apologize for your feelings,” he growls. “It will take time for you to unlearn the lies taught to you in the human world.”
Emrys breaks me from my thoughts as his lips tickle my ear.
“I see no lady here, only a queen. Queens demand whatever they please.”
All of it had been wonderful. A wonderful, wild dream.
“It’s ridiculous—frivolous nonsense. A childish desire.”
Emrys’s eyes harden, and his mouth thins.
“If it’s something you want, then it isn’t nonsense.”
“My family will wonder what happened to me.” My body shudders. “I don’t even want to think of how the prince will react when I don’t show up for our engagement.”
The king raises and brow and asks nonchalantly, “Would his head ease your concerns?”
“Wait, do I not need shoes?” I ask, looking down at my bare feet. The grass stains from last night have mysteriously disappeared. I glance towards Emrys’s naked feet before meeting his amused eyes.
“There’s no need for shoes in my realm.”
That’s the most wonderful thing I’ve heard in my entire life.
The taste of freedom I had last night is heady, and I want so badly for it not to be a trick. For the first time in my life, I want to lower my guard and keep it down.
