Ancient people were very interested in the stars. They noticed that some 'stars' moved in the sky and they called these stars planets. The word planet means 'somebody who moves from place to place'. Ancient people thought the planets were gods flying across the sky.

it is possible ti see a star behind the Sun because the Sun curves the space around it. the light from the star changes direction when it goes near the Sun.
