Kitapta mitoloji öyle akıcı ve hoş bir dilde anlatılmıştı ki hiç sıkılmadım okurken... Yazar bu kitapta mitolojiyi direkt tarihi ve resmi bir dille anlatmamış, aksine çok eğlenceli hikayeler şeklinde anlatmış. Konuşma dahi eklemiş içlerine ve bence bu şekilde yazması asıl kitabı bu kadar güzel kılmış. Mitoloji sevenlere kesinlikle öneriyorum, zorlayıcı bir dili yok okurken keyif alırsınız. Anlatış biçimini böyle akıcı bir sekilde yapığı için de hikayelerin neredeyse hepsi de aklımda kaldı, hatta Mitolojiye giris icin mükemmel bir kitap :)

Overall, I quite enjoyed the entirety of the book. This is part of Fry's Greek Mythology series even though the books are not completely related. Mythos was an interesting read for sure. However, since I enjoy the deeds of mortal more, I liked this book a bit more as well. Starting from the Gods, Fry moves on to the lives and journeys of famous heroes such as Perseus, Heracles, Bellerophon, Orpheus, Jason, Atalanta, Oedipus, and Theseus. There are also other information about certain monsters (Chimera, Nemean Lion, Hydra etc.). There is a long list of important characters as well as beautiful illustrations. So, if you're interested in Greek Mythology and you've read Mythos, you would enjoy this book.
The one thing I really like about Fry is his way of storytelling. In that way, he reminds me of Neil Gaiman. Both are great storytellers in their own sense. Instead of saying "he went there, he killed that, he died," Fry retells the stories in his own way and writes interesting and often funny dialogues. This is also the reason why I really enjoyed reading the things I already know. It was also good to remember certain information about lesser known heroes such as Bellerophon and Atalanta. In short, this is a well-written book and it was fun to read. The third book in this series is already out (Troy) and I heard that the fourth one is coming soon as well (The Odyssey).

This is actually much better than I expected. I originally planned to get the audiobook version because I love listening to Stephen Fry (especially after listening to his "Victorian Secrets"). Things happened and I ended up reading this (not that I regret anything). This has become the number one book that I'll suggest about mythology (Greek at least).
The one thing I really liked about this is the storytelling which reminds me of Neil Gaiman. This is one of the reasons why I really liked his Norse Mythology. It is true that it gives a lot of useful information about Norse mythology but the way he gives that information is what matters to me. The same thing happened with Fry's book as well. I did not particularly learn anything new but it was still fun to read about the things I already know, not many writers can do that.
There are a lot of stories about Greek mythology and its major figures. In addition, it is great that Fry mentions underrated stories and figures like Arachne, Eos and Tithonus, Phrygia and so forth. Most of the mythology books out there talk only about the Olympians and certain well-known stories. The stories are detailed but easy and fun to read. Overall, I think this is a great book to just enjoy and also learn a lot of stuff. Definitely recommended!

Gerçekten yaşanmış mı yaşanmamış mı diye şüphe edeceğimiz kadar eski bir öykü Truva. Yaşandıysa eğer taa Bronz Çağında olmuş bir olay söz konusu.
Yazarın eğlenceli dili bu sefer, çoğu zaman tarafsız kalamayacak kadar Yunan Mitolojisini sevdiği şekilde tezahür ettiğini fark ettim. E olay Yunan ve Türkler olunca da pek bi hoşnut kalamıyoruz. :) Ama hikâyede kahramanlar her iki cephede de bulunuyor ve tanrılar da her iki cephede. Yine de biz sonucu biliyoruz bundan kendimce pek hoşnut değilim.:))
Savaşı anlatmadan önce önemli kişilerin babaları, analarından başlayıp güzel ve basit bir kurguyla size sunmuş yazar. Çoğu yerde ek bilgiler var ama, yani ben bile oflayıp puflamadan hepsini okudum. Yani gönül rahatlığıyla seveceğiniz üçlemenin son kitabı diyebilirim.
Hektor karakteri ise o eşsiz, yenilmez ve bütün tanrıların göz bebeği Akhilleus karşısında tanrıların bile adammış diyeceği, bu coğrafyadan çıkmış koca bir yiğittir.
