Kevin Kwan, Singapur’da doğup 11 yaşında ailesiyle beraber Amerika’ya taşındı. Okul yıllarında F. Scott Fitzgerald ve Joan Didion okuyup New York’a taşınmayı hayal ederdi. Huston Üniversitesinde yaratıcı yazarlık eğitimi aldı. New York’taki ilk yıllarında Andy Warhol’un Interview, Martha Stewart Living dergileri ve M&Co Design şirketi için çalıştı. İlk romanı Crazy Rich Asians, 2013 yılında uluslararası bestseller oldu. Roman, The Hunger Games (Açlık Oyunları) adlı filmin yapımcıları Ivanhoe Pictures ve Color Force tarafından bu yıl içinde filme çekilecek.
