Reading witcher in english is fascinating. Even though its translated directly from Polish, English sometimes flattens the raw, gritty Slavic wit, but the dark atmosphere still punches through. I love how this book tears down pretty fairy tales. It shows a magical world ruined by ugly human realities such as injustice, racism, and violence. It proves that no matter the universe, human nature always brings the same disgusting problems. Since I’ve played all the games, I didn't have to build this world from scratch. I felt like I was returning home, totally immersed from page one. Plus, every character is so distinct you instantly adopt them. Dandelion, especially, is brilliant, his dramatic bard energy perfectly balances the grim reality. The core of the book for me is Geralt. He acts like a heartless mutant who only kills for coin, forcing himself to believe he has no feelings because society expects him to be cold. But underneath, he is incredibly soft hearted. I related to him deeply. People often call me emotionless too. But I know how much I actually care. When it matters, sometimes I act way more thoughtful and genuinely considerate than the people who constantly brag about how sensitive they are. Like Geralt, being guarded doesn't mean you don't feel. Some dislike that this is just a collection of scattered short stories, but I think it’s the perfect, low pressure gateway into the universe. It’s a fun, easy read that makes you feel both the darkness of the world and the hidden warmth of its hero.

As the eldest daughter and a gifted child drifting between depression and grandiosity, this book helped me put names to some patterns I had been blindly following. Once you identify a problem and label it, you gain a clearer picture of what you are dealing with. The rest may not be a piece of cake, but resolving a defined and visible problem is far easier than fighting with shadows. Unresolved childhood traumas run the world. They shape the core of our personalities, our survival mechanisms, and our reactions to life’s events. No one deserves to be hurt or wounded, but it is our responsibility to grow beyond our trauma and heal from it, because the cycle must be broken and not passed on to the next generation. Yes, it is deeply unfair to carry the burden of wounds we did not cause in the first place, but life has never promised us justice. If you are the “gifted child” everyone assumes has a perfect life, so they leave you to your own fate, yet you still wonder, I have everything but why don’t I feel grateful? What is this emptiness? If you carry a constant guilt no matter how “perfect” you are, and if no achievement of yours has ever brought more than a fleeting sense of relief, this book may resonate deeply with you. If you seek insight, I strongly recommend The Drama of the Gifted Child.

Warehouses are facilities where goods are stored and managed, acting as an essential link between the manufacturer and the end consumer. It's a crucial part of supply chain management and logistics. Thus we can't underestimate their importance. For businesses to achieve sustainable and accountable success, a strong understanding of warehouse operations is essential. The book covers key aspects such as layout design, workforce planning, material handling equipment (MHE), receiving and dispatch processes, core warehouse operations, picking strategies and outsourcing. In summary, the book provides a step by step explanation of the vital elements of warehouse management. I acquired this book upon my professor’s recommendation and I'm glad I found it. It helped me to gain a comprehensive perspective on warehouses.

MUHTEŞEMDİ! Lily ve Lo’nun hak ettikleri sonsuz mutluluğa ulaşmalarını gözyaşlarımla okudum, bitirdim, okurken bitmesin istedim… Kitaptan sevdiğim sahnelerden sadece birkaçı: Ryke’ın Daisy’e verdiği birthday present… Yerim yerim Ryke’ın Lily hakkında pislik laflar edip kavga çıkarmaya çalışan Meksikalı gençlerle Lily’i savunmak için düşünmeden öne atlaması… Lo üzülmesin diye söylediklerini anlasa da tercüme etmeyip Lo yerine de çocuklara saldırması… Jonathan’ın teklifi üzerine Ryke ve Lo’nun team up yapması… Hale Co. görüşmesinde Lily’nin başına gelenler üzerine yardıma koşan Ryke… “He will always be the biggest hero in my world.” (Lo’nun Ryke hakkındaki düşüncesi…) “You have the purest parts of my heart, and I’m certain that in every alternate universe, I’m always, always in love with you.” “Lily Calloway…all this time, your superpower has been loving me.” Core 6 sizi çok seviyorum, her ayrıntısıyla içimde duygu patlaması yaşatan bu kitabı da çok seviyorum!

Very provocative! I gave it 10 stars not because I agree with all points Yuval made, but I find them intellectually stimulating. He is definitely smart and articulate. He draws interesting and philosophical conclusions from historical events. This book shall be deemed more of a philosophy book than a history one. So, overall it is a very thought provoking, well-written history/philosophy book. Especially the last chapter on happiness is awesome. However, I also have couple criticism about some of Yuval's ideas, some of which I wanna share here. Yuval does not believe in any sacred values, beliefs or ideas of human history including equality, human rights, God, religions or even the soul. Throughout the book he mentions atheist, materialist and evolutionist views as hardcore scientific truths without discussing any weaknesses of these views. For example how did the matter come into existence out of nothing in the first place. Or how did life start on earth. He is defining evolutionary forces as “blind”. But then interestingly he comes to believe that these blind forces, made up of unconscious atoms, somehow ‘by chance’ created such a magnificent world including millions of different species each of which are equipped with the state of the art tools, organs and systems. My point is you cannot impose your views as hard core scientific truths if they are only weak theories. It is also very interesting to see that Yuval considers equality and individual freedom contradict each other. His reasoning is ‘Because, equality can be ensured only by curtailing the freedoms of those who are better off’. What he misses is by ‘equality’, it is meant the equality of ‘rights and opportunities’, not the equality of biological or psychological traits. Also, by ‘freedom’ it is not meant

A terrific short novel with a great idea at its core. This was banned by the Nazis. It isn't clear to me why except that there is one reference to supporter of the Reds in Russian, and certainly they would have been enemies of the Germans in 1933. I really, really liked this one. It's so twisted! I thought it was a crime novel but no way -- this is a very dark book overflowing with paranoia, one that seriously played with my head. But The less one knows about the book before reading it, the better. Young German doctor Georg Amberg awakens in hospital after an accident. Amberg's memories of the circumstances are not believed. He says he suffered a blow to the head from a flail a few days earlier but doctors insist he was knocked down by a car and has been in a coma for five weeks. The bulk of the novel is Amberg's recollection of events leading up to his accident, from the time he accepted a job as village doctor in rural Westphalia, where he meets Baron von Malchin, an old friend of Amberg's historian father, his estate manager, a White Russian exile, and Bibiche, a beautiful young scientist working with the Baron. It's also a highly-satisfying novel I can recommend to anyone who, like me, loves obscure fiction.
