Uygulamaya kayıt tarihim 2017 olarak gözüküyor ama aslında ilk kurulduğu günden beri varım. Sadece o dönemlerde Goodreads kullanıyordum. Maalesef "değişime ayak uydurmak" diye bir gerçek var. Sürekli değişen görseller, trendi yakalamak, daha çok ilgi çekmek, etkileşimi arttırmak, para kazanmak... Başlarda samimi, sade, sıradan ve basit olan her şey zamanla yerini kaosa bırakıyor. Script, Ekşi Sözlük, Twitter vb. bunlara örnek. 1000K uygulaması da tabii ki bundan nasibini alacaktı.
Mesela yüz bin kişiyi takip edebilmek nasıl bir motivasyon. Erotizm ve cinsellik her yerde. Kendi kitabının reklamını yapıp, insanlara kitap gönderen, siparişle yorum yaptıranları söylemiyorum bile. Bir de geçen gün bir arkadaşın serzenişini okumuştum. Güzel olduğu için gereğinden fazla takipçisi olan, en basit paylaşımı bile binlerce beğeni alan kadınlardan bahsetmişlerdi. Diğer yanda mükemmel paylaşımlar yapan, incelemeler yazan, alıntılar paylaşan insanlar ise birkaç beğeniyi zor alıyor. Gerçi bu hayatın bir gerçeği.
İsmini vermeyeyim bazı kitap kulüpleri var. Tamamen kendi egosunu tatmin eden, kitaptan anlamayan, flörtleşme uygulamasına dönmüş. Amaç aslında daha fazla insan kalabalığı yaratmak, kitaplar bunun için sadece bir araç.
Bu platform eskiden kitaba hizmet ederdi. Artık kitap tamamen bir araç. Tüketim objesi, çöpçatan, beğeni ölçer, ego tatmincisi... Bakalım daha neler duyacağız, göreceğiz. Bu arada çok şükür benim karşıma çok fazla saçma insan çıkmıyor. Ya da ben görmüyorum. Sadece kendi yazdıklarıma, düşüncelerime ve zevkime odaklanıyorum. Uygulamayı sadece paylaşım yapmak için kullanıyorum. Başkalarının ne yazdığına, düşüncelerine çok bakmıyorum. Maalesef saçmalıklardan uzak kalabilmek için kaliteli insanlardan da uzak kalmış oluyorum.

Last week the U.S. government terminated at least 68 grants to 46 institutions totaling nearly $40 million when awarded. Most were in some way related to sexual minorities, including research focused on HIV prevention. Other canceled studies centered on cancer, youth suicide and bone health. One canceled project at Vanderbilt University had been following the overall health of more than 1,200 LGBTQ people age 50 and older.
Tara McKay said the grant won’t be renewed because of the termination, which jeopardizes any long-term results. Still, the Vanderbilt project had already generated two dozen published papers, including work used to train doctors to provide better care to LGBTQ people, increasing the likelihood of cancer screenings and other preventive care.
Insights from minority populations can increase knowledge that affects everyone, said Simon Rosser, who studies cancer in gay and bisexual men at the University of Minnesota. “We now no longer have anywhere studying LGBT cancer in the United States,” said Rosser, who saw his grants canceled on Friday. “When you decide to cancel all the grants on sexual minorities, you really slow down scientific discovery, for everyone,” Rosser said. Young researchers will lose their jobs, and the field as a whole will suffer, he added. “It’s a loss of a whole generation of science,” Rosser said.
